A mommy moment

Yesterday I was dropping Keilani off at school and she was being silly and goofing around and I said, "Remember your mommy loves you." Then she got very serious and with an intent look on her face she said, "I will NEVER forget that." It just made my heart tingle to hear her say that. I hope she will always remember that.

The Performers

This was at the Primary talent show on May 29, 2009. Keilani and Sadie also performed these same dances at their dance recital on May 28. Sadie sang the song "Tomorrow" from the movie "Annie" for her dance recital and the talent night and did a fabulous job both times! We're so proud of her! The music has a girl singing also, but you can still hear Sadie's voice above it. Keilani wrote a book about kitties and displayed it on the tables at the Talent show. It was very creative and she drew pictures along with it. Sadie sang and danced to "The Bare Necessities" and Keilani sang and danced to "Singing in the Rain." They both did so great! I just love watching them perform! Sadie and Keilani are in the position of second from the right. I'm so proud of both of them. Keilani was a little nervous, but she did wonderfully! Sadie, on the other hand, will probably live her life on a stage!

Keilani's missionary experience

Today Keilani brought home a picture she drew at school of somebody being baptized. This brought up the subject of what happened yesterday at school. In her words this is what she told me, "Yesterday I asked Mrs. Miller if she goes to church. She said, 'No, I don't go to church.' So I drawed a picture of Jesus and gave it to her and told her: This will help you remember the gospel is true! She said 'thank you.'

Keilani lost a tooth!!

We had an eventful evening tonight. Keilani decided that it was time for her loose tooth to be removed. She suggested that we tie string around it and slam the door. So, as per her request, we did just that. Dental floss around the tooth, attached to the front door, Keilani sitting on the step. We were a little worried that an over-reaction would take place, but much to our surprise...she was calm, cool, and collected! Unfortunately, we didn't think the entire thing through very carefully since she was sitting on our cream colored carpet near the front door. No blood was spilled on the carpet(thank goodness), but the tooth went MIA. We're not sure if it went flying out the door as it was slammed or if it landed deep in the fibers of the carpet. We searched and searched and much to our dismay, we found nothing. Fortunately, Keilani wasn't too broken up about the literal losing of the loose tooth and seemed content to write a letter to the tooth fairy and share the bad news. The note says, "This is Keilani. I lost a tooth. I don't know where it is." Sadie felt that she needed to add her note to Keilani's and draw a picture of Keilani with her loose tooth. We were so excited for Keilani and so were she and Sadie. It was such a fun and exciting night!

time to reminisce

I was looking through some files on my computer and found this video of Keilani when she was about 2 years old. I believe we were at a swim meet for Jake's sister Julia. Of course Jake was encouraging her to face her fears and run down a narrow cement wall and jump off the end! What a great dad!

This is one of Sadie from when she was about 2 1/2 months old. She apparently loved the sound of her own voice. Not much has changed!

Tattooed Tyrants

Keilani got some tattoos in her Valentine's day cards from school. She is such a nice sister that she shared a tattoo with Sadie. Keilani wanted the red firey dragon tattoo and she gave Sadie the sweet teddy bear one. (I thought that maybe it should be the other way around!) They each told me where to place the tattoo and I helped them apply it. They felt pretty tough and cool! Sadie, of course, insisted on wearing her beautiful dress to show off the tattoo. Sadie's tattoo faded rather quickly, however I'm beginning to think that Keilani's is permanent! She has had it on for over a month now and it has only slightly worn off. Oh well, maybe she will be tired of it and realize that a REAL tattoo would be boring!

Sadie & her dance partner "Red"

Sadie LOVES her tap shoes. She puts them on almost daily and dances on the kitchen floor. Thank goodness I have laminate floor instead of hardwood! She was dancing around and eating M&M's and chose a red one to be her dance partner. Unfortunately, "Red" has a tragic ending. No matter, she still keeps dancing away!
