Recap of Misfortune

I usually try to count my blessings instead of counting my misfortunes, but for some reason tonight I was thinking about how we've had a string of bad luck for about the last 6 months. It all started one day when I was taking some pictures at home and took the camera with me to a going away party to take pictures there. All of a sudden, my camera was not working anymore. I don't know what happened, it just wouldn't work. It was flashing some weird code to me. It still doesn't work. After that, things started to go severely downhill from there. My favorite sunglasses broke, our truck broke down, our car broke down, our Explorer was hit 4 times, my Vitamixer blew up, then later got recalled, our oven stopped working properly, Jake got 2 speeding tickets (which he has never got tickets in his life until then), our laptop went wacko, the kids TV broke, our ipod got broken, our portable DVD player won't recognize DVD's and therefore will not play them, and now, as of today, our vacuum blew up. Yay for me I guess I get to spend my birthday money on a new vacuum. I've always wanted a vacuum for my birthday...and a nice colander with a handle, but I already got the colander. With all this happening it compels me to shout, "What have I done to deserve this?" Probably a lot of things. I don't know.

That was our family last Spring/Summer. Car broke, two computers broke, camera broke, I broke, water heater......I could go on, and that is why we are still $$$$$$ broke!

They say it happens in 3's but it sounds like it is happening in
12's or 15's. Hope things get better.

Ah yes, I totally understand this feeling since we've had things like that happen all in a row for us, as well. And I too, have asked myself, "what have I done to deserve this? Am I being punished?" But, I had to learn that our Father in Heaven really doesn't work that way. My bishop (at that time) had to remind me that he wants us to have, "Never-ending Blessings" and I really thought about it and realized it was true. And what a loving God to want this for us, even though, sometimes we mess up. He must really see the best in us, the way a father truly does. I love that. Hang in there Becky. I know you have a wonderful heart and you have an amazing family. Great things are yet to come as soon as you get over this mountain. And then later, you'll look back and go, "Hey remember that time when all our electronics crapped out on us, at the same time! Man, that really bit the big one!" Lots of Love, Patty

I'm so sorry that sounds horrible. Our remedy- when things get bad and we have absolutely no money, we go out on and spend a bunch more money and that always seems to lift our spirits! Good Luck.

The way you put it, I couldn't help but laugh. But all in all I'm sorry. That's pretty crappy. And none of them are small little things.
